Executive Management

	Ajay Anand Chief Executive Officer ajay.anand@horizonenergy.net.nz Ajay Anand is the Chief Executive of Horizon Energy Distribution Limited, leading the executive management team and managing the company's business interests. Ajay joined Horizon Energy Distribution in September 2008. Ajay is an electrical engineer with over 12 years experience in the electricity sector. He has significant experience in utility strategy, design, construction, management and operations. Prior to joining Horizon Energy Distribution Limited Ajay was the General Manager for Network Assets at Top Energy Limited, situated in Kaikohe. He was responsible for all elements of pricing, network related regulatory compliance and disclosures, planning, development, and operational control of the network which serviced 28,000 customers. In addition to this he led Top Energy’s design team who worked on extensive tenders supporting the Company's Fijian operations. Before joining Top Energy he had several engineering and management roles with Mercury Energy and Unison Networks Limited. Ajay is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and has a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and post graduate business qualification from Deakin University (Australia) and Henley in the UK. Ajay is a member of the Electricity Engineers Association and the Institution of Engineering and Technology
	Todd Campbell Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary todd.campbell@horizonenergy.net.nz Todd joined Horizon Energy at the beginning of May 2009. Todd has had extensive experience in the financial and regulatory aspects of the energy sector over the past 16 years. He moved to Horizon Energy following six years as Chief Financial Officer with the Levin based lines company, Electra. Before joining Electra, Todd was employed by Contact Energy as the Retail Accountant. Todd’s experience includes all aspects of regulatory and financial reporting, management accounting, systems implementation, business evaluation and new business integration. He is looking forward to the challenge of his new position and particularly taking on the additional role of Company Secretary and overall responsibility for the Company’s information systems. Todd holds a Bachelor of Business Studies with a Graduate Diploma, is a Chartered Accountant and a member of New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
	Karla Meharry Divisional Manager Contracting karla.meharry@horizonservices.co.nz Karla joined Horizon as the Divisional Manager in October 2012. Karla brings to Horizon a diverse background in Contracting and Supply Chain Management from the heavy industrial and manufacturing sectors. Karla’s most recent role was Contracts Manager for the Whakatane District Council. She was responsible for all aspects of contract management and the efficient and effective sourcing, procurement, coordinating and directing of materials and service resources. Karla has also held a number of senior positions within Blue Scope Steel, Norske Skog and ABB NZ Limited. She provided functional leadership across Contract Management, Supplier Agreements, Inventory, Logistics (inbound/national) and Warehousing of both raw materials and maintenance spares along with policy development and management. Karla has a strong background in leadership and relationship management, while also empowering and enabling people within her business to strive to deliver a high level of customer service and excellence within their own role.
	Peter Middlemiss Network Manager peter.middlemiss@horizonenergy.net.nz Peter joined Horizon Energy Distribution Limited as the Network Manager in April 2011. Peter has extensive experience as an engineer and manager in the power industry spanning more than 30 years. During his career he has worked throughout New Zealand in generation, distribution and building services roles. He moved to Horizon after six years working as an engineering and management consultant. Immediately prior to that Peter held the position of Network Manager at Top Energy Ltd. As divisional manager he was responsible for the operation of the network, major contracts and oversaw significant network innovations including the introduction of GIS systems, and reliability and asset management enhancements. Peter gained an honours degree in electrical engineering from the University of Canterbury and a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University.
	Kiran Watkins Group Commercial and Regulatory Manager kiran.watkins@horizonenergy.net.nz Kiran Watkins was appointed as the Group Commercial and Regulatory Manager in October 2011. Kiran joined Horizon Energy following various senior finance roles both in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. Prior to Horizon Energy, Kiran was the Finance Manager for Planning and Support Services at Vero Insurance NZ, and brings considerable strategic finance and commercial planning experience. Kiran has been heavily engaged within the electricity regulatory environment in his previous role at Horizon Energy, and will be looking to maintain Horizon Energy’s presence in this area. In his new role, Kiran is looking forward to the challenge of working to drive the business to achieve its strategic goals and vision. Kiran holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
	Jan Pedersen Group People and Performance Manager jan.pedersen@horizonenergy.net.nz Jan joined Horizon Energy in October 2011. Jan has sixteen years’ experience as a Human Resources and Health and Safety Specialist and Manager at Environment Bay of Plenty and the Whakatane District Council. Prior to that Jan worked in the accountancy field. Jan has moved to Horizon after five year’s working as a HR and HSE Contractor/Consultant. Jan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University and holds management, safety and accounting post graduate diplomas. Jan is a current member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand.
